Hello,
Im 17 i just got my first car a 1992 ford escort wagon lx with 56k miles on it. Ive had alot of problems with this car. My grandfather really is pissing me off when he works on my car. He plugs shit up that shouldn't be now i think the fan isn't working because he pluged these's cables up
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7376/dsc079395uz.jpg
The cables went inside the car i think it went too the heater because the heater nolonger works and temp gage isn't working anymore. so now im stuck should i plug them back in?
The problem that i had with them pluged in radiator fluid was coming under neth the air vents under the seats. i don't know what that means. but the car was over heating with it pluged in.
And another thing sometimes when im at a stop light the idle is werid it like it gains rpms and it goes too low like it idles high and low
Please help if you can im new too all this car stuff so i need alot of help thank you

He has blocked off the heater hoses because your heater core is leaking. That's why you are getting antifreeze under the seat in those ducts. What he doesn't realize, and I found out the hard way too, is that the switch that turns the cooling fan on is in the heater hose. So if the coolant isn't going through the heater hose then the sensor thinks the temp is OK and doesn't turn on the fan. What you have to do is make a loop out of the ywo blocked off heater hoses. That is, get a piece of pipe and connect the two hoses together. Then you will have coolant flow past the sensors. In other words your heater hose will just form a big loop. Problem is your heater won't work for now. Here's a picture of the sensors. They are in the heater hose. Show your grandfather and he will probably understand. I made the same mistake. Coolant must flow through this hose even if it doesn't go to the heater core.

The black circle is around the temp switch for the fan. The red arrow is the sensor for your temp gage. Rubber air intake hose removed for better view.
