is it a short ram intake, cold air intake or just the filter???? generally intakes are usually very similar, although different ones are argueably better than others (K&N), but usually, the bigger the better... make sure everything fits before hand...

also how much are you spending and just out of curiosity what kind of car do you have?

K&N Filters suck.. the oiled filter idea is the worst idea ever.

Apexi power intake or break.

:iagree:

K&N filters actually lose power compaired to your normal paper filter.

i dont remember who it was, but someone on this sight did get a dyno before and after just a K&N filter, and they dynoed slightly less. now if you do the whole intake thats another story, but the filter itself is retarded if you ask me. only good thing about it is its durable.

uhh no oiled filters like K&N do increase HP. They flow more air and more easily. Ever see the K&N setup and like an Murrays or something? They have a setup where you swap out a paper filter and a K&N filter, the air goes through the filter into a tube with a ping pong ball in it. The paper filters dont flow enough air to float the ping pong ball, but the K&N one does. And no it wasnt a dirty filter.

Dunno who told you guys this stuff, but they're wrong. Everytime i've seen a K&N bolted on a car it flows better. Heck the speed shop I use to go to had a device with 2 fans, both of which ran through a filter (One a K&N and the other a paper element). On top of the filter was a golf ball. The golf ball on the K&N side had alot more flow.

In addition read Fast Ford & Mustangs Monthly or Chevy High Performance. They've dyno tested the K&N and always had gains. I have heard that the air hog is a little better.

I could care less about magazine ads. I know that my car made the power it needed to, traps what it needs to, and runs like it needs too... all with an air filter that doesn't jizz oil all over my MAFS. That is whats important.

I'd like to get a normal style Apexi filter that could be put in the "wonder ball" machine....

^^ thats another thing i dont like about them.

i suppose i could be wrong about the flow though.

Airflow of a filter is more directly related to surface area of a filter.

A shitty cone filter with a huge surface area is gonna flow better than the best filter on the market if it is some puny briggs and stratton sized cone filter.
