I bought a 2001 Lincoln Ls this summer which I love, but here is the problem that I am wondering if anyone else has had or diagnose? My husband and I went on a long trip a couple of months ago. When we went to fuel the car there was a puddle of gas left. You fuel the car on the right side and this puddle was on the left side between the doors. It seems to leave a puddle when fueling but does not leak after. I have taken it to my local Ford dealer 4 times now . The first time they said it was maybe O rings they then ordered the wrong ones. The last time I had it in they don't think this is the problem and said it is the fittings near or around the fuel pump and of course they can't just replace the fittings it would be the fuel pump they are planning on replacing. My husband thinks they are wrong. Any info on this would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the fuel system plumbing routing, but there are two pumps. Both are inside the tank and are easily accessible from under the rear passenger bench. You remove the seat bottom and can get at the pumps within minutes.
I watched the OLOA race team remove and replace a fuel pump in less than half an hour between race heats.
Not much help, I know.
Sorry.
