We recently purchased a 2006 Odyssey EXL with RES. We are experiencing an error with the DVD player and were wondering if anyone else has encountered it.
No matter what DVD we play, it plays perfectly for the first 30-45 minutes, then it stops and the display on the stereo says "ERROR". From there, the only button that will work while in DVD mode is "Eject". All of the DVDs play fine at home, and they also worked fine in our Dodge Grand Caravan prior to trading it in on the Odyssey. I suspect there is something wrong with the DVD head unit, but I would like to know if anyone else has dealt with the same problem. It's scheduled to be evaluated at the dealer later this week.

We just bought an EXL with Navi and DVD and at least your DVD works at all! We have about 200 miles on it and just tried it out for a longer drive and there seems to be no power to the rear system at all. I'm sure the salesman knew it too because he pushed the screen down and quickly put it back up saying you need to put batteries in the headphones for them to work, etc. We have a black screen...dead. I've fully read the manual and my husband is a EE. This is our first "new" car....to the dealer tomorrow...

We had this problem too. Simple fix. There is a 15 amp fuse that needs to be installed in the fuse box in the engine compartment. We were on our way home from buying our Odyssey when we discovered the problem. I called the service department at the dealership, and they informed me that they leave the fuse out while the van is on the lot to keep people from running down the batteries. They had neglected to install the fuse before we drove the van off of the lot. Sounds like this happens often.
Oh, and by the way, the dealer ended up replacing our DVD unit to solve the other problem. It only took them a couple of hours to replace it, and we have had no other problems since.

Thank goodness...I've been dreading going back there today w/ my kid and hoping it was nothing bad..a simple fix....no hassles...sounds like no biggie.
Thanks for replying so fast! I'm not so anxious about it anymore.

The Honda Odyssey Touring Model has the option to customize the headlight auto off timer setting. I have reset the Headlight Autooff Timer to 60 sec.as per the manual but with the headlights in Auto they go off when the ignition switch is turned off. The manual instructions on this are contradictory and dealer has been unable to help .Does anyone have this problem

Bogeyman,
I have the same problem with my '02 Odyssey EXL (the "error" message after which it doesn't work for awhile if you put a new DVD in, turn the car off, etc. . . . then magiacally it might start working again in 30-45 minutes). They replaced the player once. The second player worked fine for a while then developed the exact same problem. Now it's past warranty and I'm told they want $2,000 to fix it. Very frustrating. If you figure out any fixes or learn anything I would appreciate it if you posted again. Thanks,
