Oil filter housing problem

A while back I split an oil filter housing in half on my 92 Eclipse. Now I found a new part but it says its built to have an external oil cooler. The one stock has an internal cooler. Now is there a way I can just have this housing work with the internel one because I can't really afford to put $190 cooler on the car. If not would I be able to hold out in the Arizona)winter till I can get some more money to put it on. Cause its in 60's here and I'm wondering if I could just settle with that.

Sixty in winter? I hate you (i live in chicago it's fucking cold) The 90 eclipses had the external oil cooler maybe you could find one for cheap that way.

Thats the problem I'm having a hard time finding a junkyard that has a DSM without all the good parts stripped away.

So will the external mount set-up to allow me to use the water set-up till I can get an oil cooler for it. Also will I have to block the external oil cooler line to keep the oil from spraying out the bottom. Its important I get this car running as quick is I can which is why I don't want to start saving money up cause it will be 2006 before that happens.
