help!

i need help to get my mom to quit smoking because i don't want her to get cancer. Do you guys have any ideas on how i can get her to stop?

but yeah, talking to her might help. justa bit though. you could always continously steal her cigarettes as she then grounds you for throwing them away and your social life diminshes as you also continue to fail at getting your mom to quit smoking.

again, yeah, best way to go. don't hide her smokes, dude. it'll just piss her off and want more. spark one in front of her face, it'll also piss her off, but make her wanna quit. they could apparently care less about themselves, but no parent wants to see a child slowly kill themselves.

Patches and gum don't work for everyone, the best way to quit is to just stop smoking cold turkey. Both my parents used to smoke (until about a month and a half ago), and my brother used to steal all their cigarettes and lighters. That didn't work, it just pissed them off because they had to spend another $6.50 to replace them. I've been smoking at least a pack a day for the past 6 years. So trust me when I say, she'll only quit smoking when she's ready to quit. Stealing her cigs won't do anything but piss her off. Sit down and talk to her, to try and convince her that she's ready to quit. Bring up cancer, not being able to breathe at her full capacity, how much $ she's blowing away every day, the smell on her clothes and hair, it stains teeth, the bad example she's setting for you, etc.

why not steal smokes? how unforceful and unclever are ya'll? it's the best thing. ive pissed some people off, but ive also gotten at least 10 people to quit by doing it. besides, what she gonna do? ground you??? pssh...thats when you argue about how stupid it is to ground you for trying to keep her healthy. if it gets way outta hand to where she's not even tryin' then stop.

nothing will work at that point and just keep dropping hints. um, being assertive though is the only way in however you go about it. thats the problem in this world, not enough assertiveness.

imo, agreed stealing her smokes is pointless and stupid, but the kid wants her mom to stop, and he's not 'taking up the habbit'. smoking 1 is not gonna get you hooked, hell, smoking an entire pack won't get you hooked. (i'm sure to get knocked for that) He won't be hypocritical if he sparks one to show her that she influences more than just her own life now. she's got children, she should take into consideration their thoughts as well...:2cents:
