scared to upgrade

i got a 1998 grand prix GTP it has 121k miles on it all i have is an intake on it right now i wanna do a few other mods like a new exhaust and a smaller pulley 3.4" and some other mods but im worried that my car wont be able yto handle it. im just curious if its trut eh 4t65e transmissions are really not that strong and wont be able to handle the extra pressure even with a trans cooler. thank you all

While it maybe true the regular 4T65E tranny may not handle certain mods, the L67 GTP has a 4T65E-HD. Beefier axle shafts and bearings within the carrier & differential. ZZP and GM has stated that the HD is good for continuous mid 13 sec runs. Therefore, if you modify conservatively or moderately it should be OK. The 3.4 SC pulley and exhaust upgrades should not hurt the tranny unless it was improperly maintained or has problems to begin with.
