HI Guys,
I have a 1996 Aurora w/a Northstar Motor.
I have water in my oil and water coming out of the tail pipes.
I don't have the money to have a new or used motor replaced so I decided to try a repair kit from R X AUTO. The repair kit is called THERMAGASKET. I can afford 129 dollars but not $5000. I have no experence in doing something like this but maybe with a little help from you i may get by. I love my car. It says the cooling system needs to be drained and flushed, how do i do that? I will need to change the oil and filter a few times, also remove the thermostat. Wheres the thermostat?
I plan on doing this tomorrow Monday 12/12. I've been surfing the net for answers and could not find any info till I came to this forum thank GOD. Please help me if you have time. [email protected]

I love the title of this thread! It has the potential to be hugely entertaining.

um, if you don't know where the thermostat is I have to question your mechanical abilities to replace a head gasket, especially on a northstar design. Good luck.

LOL, he's not replacing a head gasket, only adding some stop leak!

Hope it works for you aurorakid.

This morning we took out the t-stat, drained the coolent what was left of it and flushed out the system engine and heater core for 2hrs to get all the antifreeze out. this afternoon we will fill with distilled water and run motor to temp and let cool 3 times, this will get any air that may be traped out.
Then we will put in the Thermagasket A & B Mix and see what happens. Hopefully it will fix the haedgasket leek.
Thanks for all you help and info via e-mail.
I am taking pics as I do this so I may have some to share via e-mail.

Look like it worked no more steam out the rear and no water in the oil. I wa able to take it for a hyhway ride for 20 miles and was done by 4:45pm. Tomorrow I will take a 200 mile trip and then another 200 mile on wedsday. I will change the oil each time. If you would like to speak with me e-mail your # to me.
