I have a 1997 Silverado and the drivers side door is sagging. as far as i can tell it is just the door hinges wearing, but it is getting pretty bad. anyone have any expierence with this (a easy fix ?) or am I just going to have to get some new door hinges ? Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I think the hinges are welded on and become a big job to replace.
But there is a pivot pin replacement available somewhere.

You need to buy a pin and bushing kit for the hinge itself it is usually avaliable at any auto parts store in the HELP section i do believe....they have short ones and long ones get the long ones (pins) i thionk they are like $8 per hinge i think if they are you will need two packs

The pin is not what is wearing and neither are the hinges. You have worn out hinge-pin bushings. My 96's have been replaced 4 times. (Being a water and wastewater operator I am in and out of the truck ALOT!!!) I think Rex's body shop put mine in for about $80.

You can buy the pins and bushings in a pack together "kit" at my local auto parts store so i just went ahead and replaced both !!! it was only a couple of more dollars and if it has been sagging long enough it will start to wear on the pin...

How hard is it to replace the bushings? I have doors doing this too. Any things to watch out for or to make the job easier?

Even if you replace the pins and bushings you may still have some sag--you can fix this by carefully bending the hinges up by a small small amount to get it back in alignment. Had to do this to my 88.
