Exotics On a Budget

Just wanting to hear some ideas for Exotics on a budget of say, 75 thousand US Dollars. Have to be turnkey and available to US customers, street legal is optional but a big plus. A few of my favorites are Ariel Atom, I think the Noble M400 is being shipped over nowadays, and the Vauxhall V220. What else should be on the list?

The Caterham 7s. The more expensive ones with the Cosworth 2.3l do 0-60 in about 3 seconds.

sadly, according to the caterham USA site, they dont have the CSR or the Cosworth 2.3L engines available in the US yet.

Of course, when they do come here.. thats gonna be a great time.

I havent looked it up recently, but i think the Nobles are about 65 thousand for a rolling chassis.

I always thought they were $50k for the chassis. :eek7:

The M12GTO3R runs 58 thousand for a chassis, another 18 for the drivetrain, and then its up to the user to put it all together. The M400 runs 67 and another 23 for the drivetrain. That too is no options or installation. Both cars run about 90 thousand for a few options and such.

How about the Lotus Elise? They MSRP at like $42k

and if just your "average" elise isn't enough, i was just reading car and driver's "superfour challenge" they had a couple months ago, and they had a Hondata Prototype/Racing Elise. They put in a 2.0L DOHC from an acura RSX, supercharged and intercooled. It puts out 320hp an a 1900 pound car.
It runs a 12.2 quarter mile on an engine that probably wasn't broken in very well. plus, upgraded tires and suspension makes one of the best handling cars there is even better, and it even got a 4-star rating in the street drivability category
cost around $72k according to CandD

dont mean to be a dick but...

exotic:
1.From another part of the world; foreign
2.Intriguingly unusual or different; excitingly strange

it doesnt match either of these definitions... although you may not see many c6 zo6's in a few years they're pretty much garenteed to be everywhere

There are more Lotus Elise's in this part of the world.

i suppose exotic is a fairly relative term, but i would venture to guess that C6 ZO6's and cayman's will be pretty common soon. i also would not say that the cayman's all that fast when being compared to other cars that have been mentioned in this thread

I don't see how being exotic means that it has to come from another part of the world. Do you really think that a resident Italian will think of a Pagani Zonda as NOT being exotic?? And what about the Saleen S7? Is that not exotic? Would a brit think of a McLaren F1 as exotic? Your definition of exotic doesn't hold much water. Also, you won't see nearly as many C6 Z06's because they're on a much more limited production run than the old one. Not as many people will be able to afford the new z06, either. I wouldn't necessarily call the Z06 an exotic either, but not for the same reasons as you. I think of it as a fast American musclecar, right there with the Viper.

So a Saleen S7 isn't an exotic? :screwy:

"exotic" is a stupid type of catagorising a car and anyone who uses it should be spanked.

to both of you, i think "exotic" in car terms is the second one... i just took the dictionary definition.. all i said was that the c6 didnt match EITHER of those definitions... i think the saleen s7 and pagani zonda match the second definition so technically they still would be exotic.. please find where i said "if it comes from the country you are from then its not exotic"... sorry if i hurt ur feelings

Exotic to me means lots of power, and u dont see it often. It has over 500 hp, and i have yet to see one. I consider vipers exotic too, even tho the dealership is nearby.

What I say to that is you won't see them everywhere because the production will be limited. The only place you'll see Vipers everywhere is at a club meeting or a one-make race. Not enough people (who also have to be car nuts) can afford a Z06 or a Viper for you to see them everywhere. I saw a car show where they said GM plans to build less than 1000 Z06's this year, however I can't confirm that. Keep in mind this is a $75k car, not a $50k something car like the old one, and it's not like you see them everywhere anyway. Anyway, this is a stupid arguement so I'll stop...
