I have a 93-v6-4.3 L with manual tranny. I want to change the fluid in the tranny so I plan to undo the drain plug. As for filling it, would I be able to do that by removing the shifter and filling from the top, or would that cause some damage. Also next to the drain plug, theres an open hole which I have been told is an overflow, in case the tranny gets overfilled. Does this sound right or do I have big problems.

Fill through the top plug (what you're calling the overflow) until it starts coming back out. Put the plug back in and drive..
