replace it.

Alternately, search this forum for a thread titled:

hey i have the same problem on the 88 BII that i just bought, and it was sitting got about 2 years, so i went through and checked all things that you need to run (spark fuel and so on) found out that on the 83 - 88 bronco IIs that they have 2 fuel pumps a high and low preasure (low preasure is in the tank) and started checking the fuel sys since it ran when we tossed some fuel in the intake (i know thats bad, but what else can you do). i checked the intank pump and it didnt have the "hum" at that time i thought it only had one pump, so i disconnected the fuel lines and tried to prime the sys and no fuel came out so there was the problem. i'm currently waiting for the new pump to get to me so i can see if the high preasure pump (which is on the frame rail behind the drivers radius arm) works and i hope to have fixed my problem as weel as given you insite on what to check. i hope it works out for you.

If the high-pressure pump is bad/or going bad, make sure you check the leads going to it. There are two leads that are held on by two tiny nuts. Once the wires start to corrode, they will slip off the posts. Mine went bad OTR, and I waited hours to fix it when it was really a 5-min job. HTH.

it was the low preasure pump that was seized. new one is on its way to me from a good friend up in Flin Flon.

Hey bub, i just baought an 86 broncoII for my daughter. it has been running fine and is having some what of the same issue. i would check in order these things ok. Batt, all electrical leades with a multimeter, then distibuter and the pumps. befor that check ur fuses and relays always go cheap first. if u can get itto crank but not start, unhook ur air intake and directly give it a shot of ether to jump it after a year and a half prolly has bad gad and will need it.
