Okay, a few days ago I got up to get ready for work. I went out to me jeep, it is a 98 xj i6. It started just fine and I let it warm up for about 5 minutes. I then drove to the gas station to fill up. When I started it up again it wouldn't start. It would click, but it wasn't turning over at all. So I had a buddy help push it back to my place. Later that day I tried to start it again but unsuccesful, so I popped it into neutral, it's an automatic, and it started right up. I took it to a mechanics shop to have them test it, but when they tried to start it it would always start in park, so they coulnd't test it. They said it might be some weird safety switch which allows the car to only start in park or neutral, and part of it might be going bad which allows it to start in park. supposedely it is a common problem with jeeps according to the dealer. But it's not always like this. Sometimes it will start in park, other times it will not and I ahve to pop it into neutral to start. When it does start it starts up just fine. Any Ideas??

yes it is the neutral safely switch, check around this forum there are a bunch of threads on cleaning it and such. its not too tough of a job.

EArlier I searched, and came up with nothing, so I think i had mispelled a word or something which caused nothing to show up.
