when taking out the rear shocks/struts, there are 3 bolts total at the top.. 2 securing a plate, and one that screws onto the struts piston rod.....

should i unbolt the 2 nuts on the top or should i just take off the nut thats screws onto the strut piston rod?

ps, i will be replacing the springs, if it matters...

Thanks.
Dan

You need to take the whole thing out, compress the spring, then undo the strut.

Take the 2 off the top and bolt on the lower control arm. The center nut is removed once the spring is compressed in a spring compressor. There is a way around a spring compressor but like I've said before, I'm not posting that information because it's unsafe and not correct.
