find the engine code on your car and we should tell if you car has vtec or not. the engine code is located on your engine block. it should be on the lower left side of the engine. here is an example..

make sure you wipe that area clean. after you find the code..report back to us.

or, just look on the back of the head, on the distributor/passenger side.. there will be a little cylinder sticking out if there is, its the vtec solenoid

You probably wont feel it even if it is VTEC. VTEC doesnt give the same sudden "kick" like a turbo, like most people make it seem.

That is not true what is the matter with you. The Del Sol si's have D16z6 VTEC motors and they do not say it on the valve cover neither do the 96+ EX's they are VTEC also. If you have a 92 civic HB Si you have a D16z6 motor just like the EX's and yes it is VTEC and you will notice that your car will redline at 7200 rpms.

He's from canada. Probably doesn't have vtec. It's an Si, not SiR

Well here's the answer the number on the engine is .....D16z6 , which makes it a VTEC..but the question is I don't really feel anything much is it becaue its a SOHC or because it might not be working..

you're not gonna feel that much, it's more a sound your might hear.

92 and 93 dont say vtec on it, this is true for civic and del sols. If it has sparkplugs in front its a vtec, if they are in the back its not.

You won't even hear it on the SOHC unless you have done some mods like Intake/ Headers/ Exhaust then you can hear it.

I dunno about that...

When I rode in my friends '99 Integra GSR, I could totally feel when it hit vtec... Its like it hit the powerband all over again...

Mabey its not like that on the lower powered engines tho *shrugs*

Like I said you don't notice it on the Single Cam's until you start putting on some mods. You can make those cars fast because the cars are soo light weight. Those engine are soo small and light and fun to tinker with.

It is true that you cant feel SOHC VTEC like a DOHC VTEC, but unhook your VTEC and drive your car. you will definatly feel the engine take a big shit after 5,000 rpm or so.

you dont miss it until its not there

Just buy yourself a repair manual for 92-95 Civics and it will show you where and what the V-Tec solenoid looks like, this will anser your question no matter what. And no you won't hear the V-tec suddenly kick in on your SOHC unless it is fairly modified and even then it is not that loud. I swapped my EX motor for a B16 and when vtec kicks in on this puppy (with ITR intake cam) you hear it and feel it like it's pissed off! I LOVE DOHC V-TEC!!!!!!!! even in Canada your Si HB should be V-tec, just look for the D16z6 engine code
