2002 Taurus DOHC Plug Wire Order

I replaced the spark plugs and wires on my 2002 Ford Taurus but noticed something curious. The engine is transverse therefore, the foward 3 cylinders (nearest the radiator) are 4,5 and 6. Whereas, the rear most 3 cylinders (nearest the firewall) are 1,2 and 3. I repalced the wires and spark plugs. The ignition module (I assume) where the wires (recieve) thier spark from is a square box that is set up similarly to the cylinders but in reverse. The front most side (towards the radiator) are 1,2 and3 and the rear three (nearst the firewall) are 4, 5 and 6. I noticed that the 1,2 and 3 wires plugged in order, being 1 (left), 2 (middle) and 3 (right) BUT the rear were plugged in 4 (left), 6 (middle) and 5 (right). Can anyone tell me if that is correct?! Are they not supposed to follow suit with the first three and plug in 4, 5 and 6!?

Secondary Question:

I have a battery warning light that will not go away ever since I took the car in to Ford to have the alternator replaced. This car has 56,000 pampered miles with some HIGH speed runs once in a while. I changed the plugs and wires after the Taurus was hesitating and "coughing". I ran the scanner on it (Codetrack) and it gave me P0302 - mifiire on #2 cylinder. The mis on the #2 cylinder started at the same time the alternator went south. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be keeping that battery light on?

Sounds right on plug wires.
On the alt problem get back to ford and have them lick that calf over again. :grinno:

I replaced the plugs and wires (about $55) through Auto Zone and the mis is GONE!!!! Yea! BUT...........

The battery light is STILL on, I do not have any noticible issues of any kind but wonder.......

I had the battery tested and all is good. The alternator is new but could be bad. Damn, I don't want to spend another $300 to have a replacement put in. ANY ideas what to look for!?

Take it back and get them to test it it could be a bad one or something else. If they repaced it it should be warranty.
Good Luck

It could be but unfortunately if it is bad, I still have to pay the $300 labor to pull the axle off so they can install a replacement. Darn.

Thanks MT

If the light has been on ever since they worked on it.
And it was my car they would be licking that calf over free of charge.
Do not let them pull that on you.
If they sold you the alternater and replaced it.
They can replace it again free of charge.
You should have taken it right back as soon as it done it.
Get right on there case.
