I just bought a 2000 V6 Mustang last March. I had a few things I fixed but recently there's something I just down't understand. The car starts perfectly fine and sounds good. However, the check engine light has been coming on and off recently, and I dont know why. I haven't had any time to check it out at the local dealership, so I'm referring to anyone out there that might know what's wrong. Also, the engine seems to bog down as I get up to about 40-45 mph, and when I'm between 60-65 mph. I had a friend look at it and he said it might be related to the check engine light. Now it's the same even if the light is off. He said it probably wasnt the transmission, but I'm still not sure. Just posting this to see what kind of ideas anyone has on what it might be and how I can fix it.

the check engine light has everything to do with the problem. anytime that light comes on, it means there is a problem. either take it in somewhere to someone to get them to retrieve the codes, or go to auto zone or sears and get a code reader for under $100, about the same price someone will charge to diagnose it. if you do get one, locate the connector for the scanner somewhere under the dash. plug it in and follow instructions and computer will give you code(s). this will give you the faulty circuit(s). good luck
