Hi!
My boyfriend's red '88 Fiero is his baby..and it needs a lot of work done to it. New seats (preferably leather), new tires, the headlights no longer come up on their own, and now he needs a new heater core.
My question is..with Christmas coming up, I want to do something for his Fiero. With those needs listed above, could all of you fellow Fiero lovers tell me which would be most appreciated as a Christmas gift? Or any other ideas would be welcome! Thanks so much.

A heater core is an easy item to buy, there is only one component and they are all the same.
The headlights.............it depends on whats wrong, the switch, relay, motors etc..........without a fault diagnosis you may not be able to buy the correct parts.
Leather seats are expensive, but there may be something on line for upholstry kits, try here: http://kitcarmag.com/howto/5533/
or maybe a local auto trim shop can re-do the original frames.
Tires are a personal choice, there are a variety of manufacturers and designs, some are better on dry pavement, some are better in the wet, etc.
If you have an idea about his driving perference, you could go to a reputable tire store (not walmart) and buy a set, in the original size (look at the old one's size)
The key here is to find a tire store that can provide you with decent advice on the correct tire for the intended use.
Buy a reputable brand, like Michelin, BF Goodrich or Yokohama.
Finally, can you come over and be my g/f?
My wife of 13 years hardly knows what I drive, much less actually take an interest in it!
Your b/f is very lucky!

Haha...thanks for the compliment! I love his car...and definitely wanted to do something nice for it (and him) for Christmas. Thanks for the advice..it sounds like either the heater core or the tires (if I can be sneaky and find out what kind exactly to buy) are my best bet. Thanks again!

hello sarah I currently own too many fiero's but my favorites are my own 1988's I have three of these an 88gt/stock an 88formula/stock and my favorite an 88t-top w/3800 series II supercharged & 4speed automatic but to answer your question the heater core might be most appreciated as winter is upon us, they are available at any part store and are pretty cheap. Beautiful seat covers (leather) are available through mr.mikes in florida he has a web site just type in mr.mikes you should find it. as for tires remember that the tires are two different sizes front tires are 205/60/15 rear tires are215/60/15. The most common cause of headlight failure is the disintegration of three delrin bushings in the headlight motors these can be replaced with 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch nylon spacers found at any place like busy beaver home depot etc. if the headlights make the noise like they are coming up I guarantee you that everything else works and it is the bushings. Good luck any questions feel free to e-mail

blah... heater core... I just got finished putting a new one in my '85 gt. To my amazement it was $54.
I guess I'm just use to the $15 one that my '85 jimmy had.
I resently put new tires on mine. I got Yokohama Avid ST's 225/70r14 so if he wants a wider tire that size works great on my car.
Its a good handling tire and looks great too.
