Worst one ever (completed C6)

Ever had a model where so much went wrong you became sure it was possessed?...and then you finished it to spite it? Well, this one's mine. After the initial trash-paint job, I did a ton of prep, cleaned the whole house, waited for perfect weather and...outta nowhere ( I SWEAR I didn't touch it) two huge black fingerprints appear on the rear of the car. No big deal, I'll do the C5R treatment and paint it black. Then, more black specks and red stuff appears on the hood. Okay...stripes, too then. Except the paint for the stripes doesn't stick to the paint at all, it bleeds, gives me tons of problems, finally chills out and sets. I could go on and on and on about what all went wrong with this model, and very little of it actually has to do with the kit - in fact, this kit has the BEST tips EVER put in a kit, ever. HOORAY Revell for using these tips, they are outstanding. Enough with the blah blah, I've bored you enough (does anyone actually read this? Be the first to say yes, and you'll get a sneak peak at the freshly painted ConVettible) Here's the pics...Yes, I know the stripes aren't exactly straight. Oh well. It's done. we all have days like that where the simplest thing goes wrong, but otherwise it looks pretty good to me. maybe just add a wash in the door seams to bring that out but still it's good the way it is. i really like the look of the rims. i hate having paint problems like you describe, went thru all that last week, and yes people read this, lol.

Heh, I didn't even mention all the spots where the paint ran and then bubbled. Automotive paint is tough to use. I can't do a wash on the doorgaps because the paint is too thick, the lines are almost gone. The emblems were completely gone.

A next step you could experiment with - either on this car or later on - would be to try to darken the panel lines with a pen or watered down reddish-brown paint. You could do the opposite with the black and dry-brush some gray very lightly along any raised edge or corner.

Not saying it needs it, but if you don't like this model then it's a good one to practice on =].

I have definetly had the demon possessed model before and I must congradulate you for sticking it out. I have destroyed quite a few in the past for reasons just like that. :evillol:

Yeah, I 've been to modeling hell before....the important thing is you stuck with it to the finish. It doesn't look bad from here but I know how it is....when you build a model you know where all the flaws are and it does bug you a bit.

I like it. glad to see you stuck with it. I'm not doing much modeling till the end of next week. got finals this week.....oh well....what color is that on the convettible

Looks good. I really like the black on the tail end. It's good to go out of your way to exercise the demons in a kit; I've heard that any modeller can build a model, a true modeller can make a mistake and fix it. That's all I'll say because I'm sure you read these words as much as we read the words around your pretty pictures.
