engine cooling

I,m having problems maintaining a good temperature during summer months. If anyone has any Ideas I welcome them

My engine is running hot during the summer and perfectly during winter and cooler months. I've changed the filter in my transmission and I've ran synthetics in the motor and additives to my radiator fluid, and I'm running out of ideas. I'm curious if its a trait of the 2.2 chevy motors with an automatic tranny

could be a blowen hed gasket/cracked head... could also be time for a coolent flush,,, whens the last time it was done? and finally it could be a water pump... what year truck are we talken??

Check your water pump, thermostat, radiator and rad cap.

And, as mentioned by dmbrisket, a coolant flush is recommended.

Thank you all for the replies but I've put in a new water pump, (which I found to be particularly easy) new thermostat, new head, new transmission filter and fluid, the only thing I havent done is flush the system. Its a 1995 with a 2.2 and I'm thinking maybe a sensor isnt working right or its something electronic

I had a clogged radiator once,someone put stop leak in and gummed up the radiator. I found that is was so clogged, I couldnt get a good flow. I had opened the spigot, and filled the rad, and it just dribbled out the spigot.

You might have something there, didnt think about the radiator being plugged. Thats why I tell people not to use quick fixes like stop leak, sometimes ya get burned. I think I'll drain my radiator and blow it out and see if that works, thanks alot

I am brand NEW to the list and have a ?.
2001 suburban 5.3lt 4X4. There is a coolant leak from the lower front left (driver side). It looks like it is from a plug. Is this the block drain?
How is it repaired?

well airbus, next time start a thread for your question, youll get more help that way... and it is most likly a core plug (freeze plug) or a block drain...

I am thinking it is a block drain. Is This EASY to replace. How do I remove the existing plug?
I am having little problem figuring out how to start a new thread, but I will figure it out.

fairly easy, it either takes a 4 or 8 point socket on it, or a 3/8 drive into it... to start a thread, in the main 's 10' part, theres a button that says 'start thread' or 'new threa' something along those lines... click it and there ya go
