Crankshaft Sensor Code/Engine Didn't Start

Today I went to start my 96 318i 1.9, It sort of "blinked" like the battery was dead. I tried again and the car started right up, but the check engine light was on.

The code ended up being a P0335, crankshaft position sensor. I'm wondering if this is a symptom of a larger problem or if maybe I just had a bad ground. Funny thing was, all of my programmed radion stations got erased, so it's almost like the battery was disconnected... Weird...

Can't say as never had the issue on my Bimmer, but my daily driver is a slightly warmed over 1998 Neon and last month she just died on me and would not start. I had her towed home and she started right up, ran for five minutes and died. I had her coded and nothing, so we started her and let her run until she died and then she coded a CPS. I replaced it and no further issues. I would not let the CPS go as it may strand you somewhere you do not wish to be.

:)Whenever I went over a bump the car would hesitate. I had the same code and replaced the crankshaft sensor and it stilled did the same thing. Still continued with the hesitation. I was checking out my battery in the trunk and noticed a spark coming from the battery connetion. It seemed that the battery connection had a worn section that was hitting metal and shorting out. I taped it up and the problem was fixed.
