Which injectors?

I'm looking to turbo my car... after getting it outta the shop... I'm looking a modest size turbo... nothing big and fancy... just something to say it's turbo... maybe 5-7psi boost... I have a SOHC... I know I will need high impedance injectors... but what flow rate should I be looking at, any specific suggestions... will I need a FPR at this boost... and will I need a higher flowing fuel pump? ... I definitely don't wanna lean out the engine... but I've had problems with it running too rich in the past (TPS)... any ideas?

do some searching or ask in the FWD forced induction section of 3si.
I'm not sure which injectors, and I'm not sure if you will need to replace the FPR and fuel pump, but I'm leaning towards yes, at least on the pump. And you will need some sort of air/fuel controller to compensate for the larger injectors.
Again, ask on 3si, where there actually are some members already running boosted SOHCs.

ok, thanks igo... I just hoped it would be easier to post up here... actually... i've looked at the cost of it... and I'm thinking a/b going bigger... I can put a turbo up here (modest size) for a/b $650... that's with only the bare minimums and quite a few connections... I can prolly even get it cheaper... I'm sure someone has a nice sized turbo for sell that needs rebuilding... and that'll also be a great lesson in itself... and I know where to get the rebuild kits... I found a stock 9b (Eclipse turbo) for $25-75 (there's a couple of 'em, all in various conditions) and a rebuild kit could run ups of $100... plus some piping and all the accessories and gauges...
I'm really liking the thought of running off the dp... hiding all the turbo goodies, and keeping the BOV tight... that'll sure as hell freak some people out at the track... especially if I don't fix the front end..
I was really planning on all the nice rice mods... (typical teen)... but then someone would pull up next to me and expect my car to be fast... and laugh if it wasn't... now they pull up to me... show ass, and when the light's green, I haul it... I've gotten some really funny reactions... specially the local 240 rice... it's kinda funny, they look at the car like it's a pos (it kinda is, but I love it and am working on it)... and then I dust them...
Can't wait to get more power under there... BTW, I love that Fidanza Lightweight... helluva lot more acceleration... and it's not something someone can see if I pop the hood (always a good thing...)
Now I just gotta finish the transmission work and control the wheel-hop... then maybe some lightweight rims... and a nice size turbo...

to control the wheel hop, a LSD insert is your answer. after i installed mine, i've had ZERO wheel hop, and much better traction around corners.

Awesome, I was gonna get that same LSD insert... but I sprung for the lightweigh flywheel... shoulda bought both, since I had the money... it'll prolly be awhile before I have the money to do any more mods... my g/f is a/b to move outta her parents' house (b/c they are assholes) and I'll be helping her get a place... so, I'll have to stretch my money pretty far for now... I'm also prolly gonna put the system back in the car (it kept the rear planted)

just put a stock TT fuel pump and TT injectors in, an S-AFC, make the corrections and call it a day for as far as fuel goes.

Then I'd have to change more than just that... from what I've read, the TT's run low-impedance injectors, while the NA's run High-impedance injectors... not a drop-in replacement... need the ECU, and quite a bit more, read the stickies (I b/l that's where I read that info)...

While that is true, I remember reading something on 3si where guys had used different transistor setups with the TT injectors in their SLs, and some were even running without them. I don't remember enough to say anything of meaning, but if you do some searching I'm sure you can find the threads easy enough.

true... I b/l I had read somewhere that the TT's have an external resistor, while the N/A's do not (maybe I've got that backwards, I don't remember)... Thanks for the help though... I'm gonna talk to my buddy who has turboed a civic and was pulling 6.7's in the 8th... his car was extremely fast (even compared to my car, but mine was stock at the time)... he was pulling on a 350Z before he turboed... now he can't catch traction... but he won't upsize the rims... I think he's got connections to help me monitor and calculate what I'll be needing as far as flow is concerned... he's definitely built that 1.6 SOHC, b/c he was the top competitor here for a long time... until that 350z showed up... and then he turboed, haven't seen either since...

you can use the N/A ECU just fine, you just need an S-AFC which i said to make the correction for fuel. As for the injectors, just buy 6 resistors at 5.6-ohms and solder them in each power wire that goes to each injector and you have low impedence harness. In fact, thats all the resistor pack is anyways. And even on that, i ran low impedence on mine for a year before adding the resistors in and i never had any problems . . . of course it could burn them up over time, but it wont hurt anything to run them like that for a little while.

did you mean to say that you ran HIGH impedance on your car for a year before adding the resistors to make it a LOW impedance circuit?
question: are there any other benefits to using a TT ecu other than simply not having to buy a AFC for correction of fuel and air?

^ I would rather have the AFC in there... it'll let you control things a little more than just changin the ECU... plus, if I remember correct, u could setup a couple of modes, econo/everyday driving-race/for that extra bit of boost at the cost of MPG...

lol you got it backwards. I ran low impendance injectors for about a year (roughly 5,000 miles) in a high impedance circuit before adding the resistors in.
Supposedly the TT ECU has a better timing map which is supposed to give you an increase in horsepower then the N/A ECU.
I have been using the Greddy E-manage with the N/A ECU, however, i have gotten up to 550cc injectors, and will probably have to upgrade again after i finish the rebuild. I have discovered that 360cc injectors are the maximum you can use with an S-AFC, and 450cc is the maximum you would want to use with an e-manage on an N/A ECU . . . anything higher than that and you will have timing problems. I now have a manual control module for my auto tranny that allows me not to use my Transmission Control Unit, so i have a TT ECU that I am about to swap in since i can ditch my TCU.

well even at that Hotshot, I won't need the 360 injectors for awhile... I'm only looking to run a low amount of boost for the time being...

i believe the SOHC's come with the same fuel as the DOHC's. I wouldn't take the chance if i were you and just go ahead and upgrade to TT fuel levels. I won't hurt anything and the TT fuel levels are the next upgrade to N/A fuel anyways. In my opinion, i wouldn't run N/A fuel on any kind of forced induction, no matter how much boost you plan on running.

ok, I didn't realize that was the next step up... though I thought someone had posted somewhere that the DOHC was an upgrade for the SOHC... maybe they were wrong, or I was dreaming...

i'm pretty sure all N/A fuel injectors are 220cc, and the TT injectors are 360cc.

ok, well thanks for that info... I'll keep that in mind... I might as well just look for some good 360 high imps on e-bay... b/c all the VR4's round here (that I know of, in junkyards) have been gutted... everything salvageable been taken long ago...
