Brake Indicator...

When I first start my car in the mornings... the brake light indicator is on... it is usually on for my entire 20 minute ride to work (cold outside)... sometimes during my ride to lunch... I have the proper amount of fluid... I was wondering... why does it do this... is there a simple fix?... and the brakes sometimes seem to pulse when slowing down... (no ABS)... maybe it's time for a bj (brake job)...

Also... when it's really cold out... my water light comes on... I'm not really sure why... I don't think I have a leak (the other day it actually was low on water... but the reservoir cap was loose and the water may have steamed out of the top...)...I have a really annoying squeal (not a high-pitched squeal, but a noise) coming from the belt side of the engine... so I have a feeling that the water pump may be going out... b/c if I rev the engine, the water light goes off... and the car isn't overheating... so I think I'll wait on the pump to freeze up and the timing belt to snap (I b/l they'll happen at the same time... Thank God it's a SOHC)...

The brake light means you abs need servicing and your water light just needs you are low on coolant.

As I tried to say in my post... I don't have ABS (maybe I was unclear, that didn't come with the Base Stealth)

The coolant level seems fine, though I have been running straight water since the rebuild... b/c I had a gasket blow out... and am strapped for cash thanks to the holidays... I'm not really wanting to put any in there until after it comes outta the shop...

Normally your brake light is from your fluid being low. Are you sure its full? When its cold fluids contract, so it will be lower. When your brake pads wear there is more fluid in the lines, and less in the resivior. So it may have been full before and could be low now.

Shuddering in your brakes could be a lot of things.

Maybe it's the e-brake light. Mine goes on and off randomly :eek7:

yeah, it is... but mine has never done that before... and that's the same indicator (if I'm correct) in my car as the low fluid... b/c it came on one time just after I had bought the car... it was simply low on fluid... I topped it off and was good to go... so Idk...
