It Never Fails!!!

Well, I'm back... as some of you may recall... I had to rebuild my transmission after a deer decided to sit on my hood... well that went over okay... after fooling around with it and a lot of reading and 3 tries... I got it...
Okay... the last time I put the transmission in... I had put in the Fidanza flywheel... and I forgot to properly torque the pressure plate... robbing the clutch of enough force to disengage the transmission... so I dropped the transmission again (literally, it came down on my hand and cut my wrist up pretty bad).... well, I got the clutch straightened out... and put everything back together... I drive it... and something has happened... The roll pin must have backed out again... b/c the last time... I had 3/4, but after getting the clutch straightened out... and not even 50 miles on the rebuild... I had no 3/4...
The car will go in 3/4 when it wants to... so I don't feel that the gears are bad, nor the synchros... but something must be wrong... b/c that roll pin keeps shearing... Now I have noticed that there is a grinding or meshing problem in 5th gear... it seems to go away during acceleration... but when I let off the gas.... I can hear it... If I remember correct... I started hearing this shortly after the whole deer accident and no 3/4 the first time...
After doing some reading, it seems that this could be caused by the nut on the end of the shaft... I have also noticed a grinding when entering 5th (I attributed this to maybe a failing synchro (it looked fine, but I'm an amateur, what do I know))... also, most of the time... when I'm going into 5th I'm coming outta 2nd, so the RPMs are really high... I didn't know if that maybe was the cause or not?...
If I can't figure this out within the next few weeks... (after my mom get's her van outta the shop[I'm 19, BTW, live at home w/mother]) I will be putting mine in the shop... I was hoping to save this money... but maybe there's something there I can't see... b/c it keeps breaking that roll pin... (it's just speculation at this point... I haven't opened it back up to see if that's the actual problem, but it's the same symptoms I had before)...

oh yeah, I now have the 5th gear pop out... I don't recall, but isn't the transmission supposed to pop-out when you're accelerating... b/c mine is exactly the opposite... it'll pop out when you let off the accelerator... but will stay in when you gas it... there's still at least two weeks before I can put it in the shop... all the other cars in the family seem to be having problems... this one's hobbling but pressing on...
Also, I had the oil stick pop-out over the weekend... I was racing a vehicle down a main stretch of road... and I turned down a sidestreet on the way to a friend's house... upon arriving at their house... the hood was smoking... I lifted it to find oil slung everywhere... the dipstick had popped up... on some vehicles, I know that means there's prolly crank-case pressure due to a bad PCV valve... could that be my problem?

sounds like some parts in your trans are deff messed up. I would assume something that holds the 3/4 shift fork, and maybe the end nut on 5th gear.

Definitely the end nut... but I'm not sure what else... I rebuilt it already... no gears were messed up... no synchros were bad... nothing I could see... the only gear that I noticed something wrong with was 2nd intermediate... but I have had no problem with 2nd gear... and 3/4 gears work... it just seems that the roll pins keep breaking, so they aren't sliding into gears all the time
