I have a 1988 Chevy S-10 Pickup.
As I was leaving work this morning, my drivers side door was frozen shut. A friend of mine pulled on the handle and completely snapped it off.
I have found a couple websites that offer replacement parts, but I was wondering what all I need to do to fix this and about how much it costs to replace???

Not sure on cost, but you should just need a handle.

Your cost shouldn't be too bad, I think I paid under $10 for the handle on my '89 at my local Carquest dealer last year. It's not too difficult to replace, but you need to be a little flexible and good in tight places. You have to remove the door panel and remove two retaining bolts from the inside through one of the access holes. Just try not to drop the bolts - they're not easy to fish out of the bottom of the door.

Cost will depend on what you broke. Try a junk yard if you broke a rod inside the door or even the handle. It will be a dirt cheap fix, but more time consuming.
Make sure you have a telescopic magnet ... to pick up the bolts that might fall inside the door. "Been there, done that, got the tool ... now"

My handle broke 3 times before I found a better solution. The cheap plastic breaks easily, especially in cold weather. I got a Billit Aluminum handle and it works great. Try 3rddoorhandle.com
Best of luck to you.:grinyes:
