87 CRX battery draining

i just put a new battery in my 87 honda crx...its not fuel injected...if i leave the battery on over nite the car wont start in the morning...if i take the positive terminal off the battery stays charged...what would be the problem??if the alternator is bad and i pull the positive terminal off the car should shut off rite??

it's not your alternator. you have a short some where in your electrical system that'll make something stay on all night... might not even be that. but you have something thats using power all night... you got an alarm? how about a stereo that was recently installed? anything electrical changed recently? lemme know.

ok...my alternator just died...it was smokin really bad yesterday so i went and got a new one...didnt get to put it in completely yet...no i dont have an alarm...i put a head unit in when i got the car (little over a month ago)...theres been nothing else changed lately...it ran fine one day and then i went to go to work the next morning and the car just didnt wanna start...ill post you again when i get the alternator put in...before the alternator died it was making a real loud and annoying whinning sound...then then it just started smoking...thank you and ill be sure to keep you posted

ok...just to keep every1 posted....my car died...after i replaced the alternator i was able to drive it for about 2 days....i left work on the second day and came to a stop sign...it idled down completely down and shut it self off....i have no idea what caused it....for some reason theres NO JUICE IN THE FUSE BOX at all...not while the cars running not while its turned off....if the car is running and i turn the headlights on it brings the idle of the car down and the headlights are very dim....if anybody has any suggestions let me kno....PLEASE

Is everything grounded properly. My si did that, but what i found was that the alternator ground, the copper connection broke in half, and was bouncing on and off the alternator, which made the car run off the new battery i had put in there. It died, i fixed the ground, no probs now.

yea everything is grounded properly....i was told its the main wiring harness...because im not getting any juice to the FUSE's inside the car...my radio no longer works...and i have no headlights at all...the cars got a BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, AND STARTER...I ALSO REPLACE THE BRAKES 2 WEEKS AGO( USED THE BRAKES LESS THAN A WEEK) IF ANYBODY WANTS IT EMAIL ME AT
