Valves tapping when cold

When it is started after sitting for a period of time the valves tap for a few minutes. Any answers

In cold weather, you often get dry starts (internal engine components have little or no oil remaining on their surfaces after sitting for a while). Switching to a syntheic motor oil like Royal Purple (what I use) or Amsoil will help cure this. Oh, and welcome to the forum!

It's normal. I know I know,it just doesn't seem normal.


But i have 93000 miles on my truck and everything is going great so far,except the damn brake thing. I'm going take it to the dealership though once school is out next week. But i took it there to the dealership for valve slap. Actually , search on this forum for piston slap. You'll get alot of details.

Is it the 4.8 or 5.3.There is a problem with piston slap.I found this there is .004 of ring gap from factory and Jasper fixed that.They put in better designed pistons from sealed power to Jasper's specs that have a .001 ring gap that fixes that with more machining than the factory pistons.The factory pistons are cheaply made with less machining.
