Does anyone know the best way to replace a Lug Nut Stud on the Driver side rear tire of a 99 GA GT? i have the new stud and lug nut but i can't figure out how to get the old one out or the new one in becasue of the plate that's behind the Disc that holds the studs. Is there a special tool needed to remove the plate or something that i need to do to take the plate off to replace the stud?

Is the lug sheared off or just stripped ? The lugs are pressed in therefore must be pressed out. In the old days a big hammer and a hard surface would so just fine. I'm assuming once you have the rotor off the axle (which it should if you have disc) your looking at the working part of the outside axle. They make tools for this but sometimes where space is available a C-clamp and a deep large socket on the backside will do the trick. If the lug is sheared use a graded bolt smaller than the lug to press it. 1 thing you dont want to do is hit it so hard you bend the plate even though its tough there. Sometimes alittle heat and some WD-40 will help but people tend to get carried away with fire. Give it to my brother he figures out ways to get all these types of things out , although your tire may wobble. Good Luck and more ideas will come.

I believe that there is a small area or even an access hole that wlii allow for you to get the old one out and the new one in. It may take some working of the stud to manouver into position.

Good luck
