check oil light 93 GA

i just changed the oil in my girlfriends 93 SE. She said the check oil light had been on for about a week before i changed it (its off now). Anyhow i was just curious how low the oil has to get before that light comes on. I didnt bother to check the dipstick since she was due for a change anyways. She said she was only over due by about 500 miles.

if the low oil light comes on, I would suggest checking it out, just in case. They are known to get really low(couple quarts) when the light comes on. When they only hold 4 1/2. Its something that should be checked regularly, like every week(7-10 days) or so depending on how much driving is done. Better to be safe than over heating something.
