I4 vs V6

Probably gets asked alot, but searched the forums and didn't find anything. In a nutshell, I'm looking for a daily driver that will respond to mods well. So, here's the dillemma... Inline 4 with a turbo kit boosting it up 130 horses from stock 140 = 270ish on pump (7 psi I believe), or V6 with turbo kit boosting another 100 from 190 = 290ish on pump (5 psi but could be pushed to 7-9 safely I believe). V6's have more torque obviously, but the arguement could be made I4's respond better to mods and are cheaper (less money spent on the car, more goes into performance. ie: 7k for the car 6k available for the mods 10k for the car 3k available for the mods) More mods for the I4 for the price = more horses to match just about equal to the v6 around the same price when all is done... so any help would be appreciated.
