Front disc problem

I replaced my pads on my 03 S10 with the premium brand from Autozone at 28K miles. At the time I checked into pads they were $200 at a dealer. The last ime I used O.E for an Astro and an F250 they were only about $10 more than parts stores. Now 4500 mi. later there is a strange wear pattern on 1 rotor. The surface has a wavy feel to it. There was no metal-to-metal when I replaced them and I've seen rivets wear rotors. I can see what looks like a particle in the pad that I suspect is harder than the material around it that might be causing this. Has anyone ever had this issue with aftermarket pads? I'm hoping to get Autozone to replace my rotor.

28k? holy crap mine lasted to 60k and even then i had a couple thousand more miles left inthe pads. id take it back to the dealer and tell em its eating pads. sounds like a caliper slide or two, those get pretty rusty. anyway is it pulling at all?

sorry , i doubt they will , thats what will sometimes happen , espically with aftermarket pads , cuz they are genearlly made out or harder matieral , which makes them more prone to squeek , but also last longer , but the waves really arent a safety concern , the pads just form to the rotor and still operate the same , only real way to make it so it wont do that is with factory pads and rotors

I would never buy pads from the dealer, theyre usually really cheap so they can make a profit, trust me ive worked at more than one and i have quite a few friends that work at dealerships too. ive never had a problem with turning rotors, getting a good finish on em, CLEANING the rotor after the finish cut and using bendix pads. breaking them in is the easiest thing to do and also the easiest to mess up. if you didnt turn the rotors then you can expect high and low spots but 28k you must have been doin some real stop and go.

I pretty much always buy mid grade pads, and replace them more oftem tham Preimum pads. Because they still stop the same, and they don't wear out the rotors.

organic pads are good for stop and go traffic, they wear out faster but they wont wear rotors as bad. semi metallic pads are good for higher speed stops and they still stop pretty good in stop and go traffic. ceramic are pretty much the same as semi-metallic only they have a ceramic content to them. full metallic, dont worry you wont ever need them.
