Recalls?

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what recalls there are for Dodge Caravan.

I have a 1997 Grand Caravan. I got it in 2002, and a few months later I got a couple of notices from Chrysler letting me know of recalls. One had to do with the fuel lines--something to do with O-rings, I forget exactly what it was. Another had to do with the clockspring.

I got both of them checked out at a Chrysler dealer. Got the fuel lines done, and the clockspring checked out okay, and I let Chrysler know that I'd had it checked out.

Just wondering if there are any other recalls that I might not know about.

I've been hearing horror stories about transmissions. :uhoh: Is it true that transmissions in Caravans are that bad? I've just had a bad gasket replaced today, along with the pan, fluid, and filter. Other than that, I haven't had much trouble with it, and it has a little over 119K miles on it.

Look here in the quick links section for any recalls or tsb's
http://www.nhtsa.gov/

Make sure the shop that changed the trans fluid used the fluid THAT IS SPECIFIED IN YOUR MANUAL AND ON THE DIPSTICK. If they used anything else including dexron and any additives that they say make it ok for Chrysler vehicles have it removed immediately or your trans will start to chatter within a few thousand miles.

About 9 of 10 Caravan transmission failures are caused by putting Dextron/Mercron fluid in. I've heard that even a pint will cause the trans to wear out early and a quart or more will cause total failure within 10K miles.
I bought a '00 GC cheap because the transmission was slipping, it was slipping because the owner took it to a quick change shop and they put Dextron in it because they didn't have ATF+4. I got it and changed the fluid and haven't had any trouble with it. I've put almost 30K miles on it since then.

How could you tell the wrong trans. fluid was added?
