Burning up the headlight wires?

But i remember somebody saying in here that they burned up there headlight wires cause it ran too hot. Do you think it will be ok ?

how do these compare to HID kits?

I dunno, im just lookin to get that blue-ish look with my headlights.

HID kits don't fit in pop up headlights (at least the ones I have been looking at) and if they do they don't have High Beams (I am not willing to sacrefice highway driving).

I have been running H4 lights for a few years and unless you run more then 100W you don't have a problem with the harness overheating... HID actually consume a lot less then Halogens if you can get them to fit in the pop-ups.

I was looking at that link and that looks like they are selling the bulbs but not the ballast (which is where the bulk of the cost is in).

If you just like the blue why not get Sylvania or GE nighthawk lamps?

I want the harness and the H-4 Diamond Style headlight set from 3SX, if i get those then i should be able to run those bulbs from that link right ? It says they come in H4's

The problem is not whether the bulbs will fit in the housing. The problem is that HID in H4 either do not have a high beam or the housing behind the H4 bulb extends too far back and it cannot fit in the frame of the pop up headlight.

If you are willing to sacrefice you high beams for HID the bulbs will fit but you it looks like the link is just the bulbs and does not include the ballast (the ballast is required for HID because it initially takes about 10,000 volts to start turn the Xenon gas into a "plasma". After the first spark, it's something like 35 volts to maintain the plasma).

I am just telling you this because the bulk of the cost of a HID conversion is the cost of the ballast and not the bulbs.

If you read further down on the link it says for installation, you need to plug the bulb into the ballast if you don't believe me.

Strike that... Ballasts have gotten cheaper over the last couple years... Just budget an extra couple hundred bucks...

You will still need to add that to you HID coversion shopping list.

im not 100% sure on this but im going to check later but I believe I have seen HID kits with both low and hi beams...

YOu can get HID's in low and high for second gens for sure. I dont think you can get high beams for first gens though.

I've seen 2...

One had HID for High and low but is definitly too large for pop up headlights...

I have seen a second one HID low and Halogen high but I can't seem to find them again and I think they were also too large for the pop up headlights.

autozone has a headlight conector with a thicker wire that you can use, if you hotter bulbs in it...
