Oil Leak From Crankshaft

I have a 1995 Firebird with 153,550 miles on it. It is leaking oil from the crankshaft. Does anyone know whether it is worth fixing? How much would it cost and what would be involved in fixing this problem? I was told it would take pulling the engine and the labor would be at least $2500. Any ideas? Thanks.

is it the front or rear? If its the front you just take off the balancer, hub, and replace a $10 seal. The rear requires separating the tranny and engine and pulling the flexplate/flywheel off which is a bit more labor intensive, but not $2500. You could buy a new LT1 engine and have it installed for less than that.

I would think you should be able to have the front done for $200 and the rear for $300, maybe $400 if its a manual tranny since its a touch more labor intensive.
