Engine Cuts Out

My 2000 Focus is cutting out and not retarting. No warning, sputter or hesitation - just cuts out. Happens when cold or warm and can be will happen after 5 minutes or 1 hour of running. No pattern to when it will restart - 20 minutes or an hour. Non-dealer technician can't find problem. Throttle control sensor has been replaced, new spark plugs and wires, all filters changed. No engines trouble codes being reported.
I have seen postings with the same conditions but no solution. Any ideas on what to look for.

Same thing happens to me. My speedometer and odometer zero out and then about 5 minutes later the engine justs stops.
What is going on?

That's how these cars were desinged. Bite the bullet, and take it to a dealer. The least they can do is charge you to hook up THEIR code reader and tell you what the problem is. Then pay them, say thanks, and leave. FIGHT THE DEALER-OPOLY POWER!

with the money you've spent on parts you could have had it diagnosed at the dealer, it could be a number of things , does it crank? if it does why don't you try spraying some starter fluid in the intake, if it starts then you know its a fuel problem, if it doesn't its more than likely an ignition problem. You can eliminate an air problem by holding the throttle slightly open while cranking.

Check the wires running to and from your ingition coil, they have been known to short out on the 2000. I just went through this with my 2000.
