Drill bit sizes

I'm sorry, I've looked around but couldn't find anything about drill bit sizes. I want to buy some bits, since the ones I have are not small enough for 1/24 or smaller scales. could I get a rundown on sizes? I've looked for Dremel but didn't see anything small enough to do a 1/64in hole or smaller.

Squadron, X-acto and other companies make drill bits 61-80.

Not sure if there's one near you but Wood Workers Warehouse has sets of indexed micro bits. Can't remember how many come with it as my stepson raided my tools and lost half of them. . . :swear: Most any size you need comes in it and I think I paid under $20 for the set . . .

...they run from .039", which is about 1" in 1/24, to .0135", which is about 1/4" in 1/24. Good luck finding anything smaller than #80- that's appearently what lasers are for.

Should cover everything you should need in 1/24- just get some dial calipers so you can measure whatever you're drilling the hole for, too.

Search for micro drills on ebay - I think you will find what you are looking for. here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/20-h-s-s-micro-drills-wire-gauge_W0QQitemZ6018305195QQcategoryZ4248QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem) is a randomly picked example of what I have in mind.

Also, I don't think they will work very well in a Dremmel - especially the very small ones for wiring. You will need a pin vise/vice if you don't already have one.

I've been using this set for a few weeks: Pin vise w/ 30 bits (http://cgi.ebay.com/31pc-Metric-Drill-Pin-Vise-Set-0-3mm-to-2-0mm-BBL50_W0QQitemZ5063110278QQcategoryZ34087QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem) . They work very well...all the way from 1/3 of 1mm to 2mm. Good luck.

one other thing, stock up on more than one of the very thin drill bits (e.g. 0,3mm-0,6mm). They snap VERY easily :banghead: and that's not a good thing to have happen when you only have one ;)
