trunk light

My wife has been telling me for over a year now to change the light bulb in the trunk because she cant see when she goes shopping at night. I finally decided to check it out and to my surprise, I couldn't find nothing. No wiring harness, no light, No wires underneath the carpet. She says she's never noticed if it's ever had a light or not. I called the dealership guy and he said for the 98 base vehicle no trunk light was ever installed in the factory. Is this true. Anyone have any ideas or should I just tell her to park underneath a light from now on.

I don't think the avenger has ever had trunk lights in them. Maybe the ES models do, but who knows. Crazy dodge company. :S

My 98 Avenger ES had a trunk light but it didnt have a hood light. I dont know too much about that though. I guess you could hook one up. Get a 12volt light run a lead to the trunk and put a mercury tilt switch on it. To be easier you could just put a regular flip switch I guess.
