Hello all,
Last night I parked my pickup with 3/4 tank of gas. Got up this morning and hit the remote start to warm it up for a few minutes (10 below here this morning). I went out to get into it and found I only had 1/4 tank of gas left and the pickup was missing like crazy. My daughter asked why all the water was blowing out of the exhaust so we get out to look. It was my 1/2 tank of gas blowing out of the exhaust!!!!
My husband pulled the pickup into the garage and replaced all the spark plugs and two injectors and some other crap. $320 later they start up the pickup. It again starts to miss and blow gas out of the exhaust pipe. The mechanic that was working on it is completely stumped. He thought it was the injectors that were stuck wide open, apparently it wasn't.
Any suggestions, has anyone heard of this before?
Thanks,
Gale

how does he know it wasn't injectors stuck open ? has to be something triggering fuel to dump in. no codes? one thing to make sure, if you run it make sure you check oil !! if fuel is getting n cylnders. most likely it is leaking to crankcase and if you run it with diluted gas/oil you WILL burn bearings !!

They did think it was #5 and #7 injectors stuck open so they replaced them. It still pours gas out of those two injectors. They did not check codes yet. They changed oil last night. (But will have to do it again as they started it up and it still poured out gas).

I was thinking fuel press. regulator at first. They are prone to leak very common from what I hear. Now I am leaning towards electrical if replacing the injectors didn't stop them from leaking.

Hi Riche,
Got the pickup fixed, it turned out to be the fuel regulator. The O ring was not sitting in it correctly and letting the fuel pour into the #5 and #7 injector. They put the O ring back in properly and started it up (made a really big fire first) and away I went!!
Thanks,
Gale
