Headlight Cleaning

How do you clean the inside of your headlight cause mine is very dirty i can turn my bright lights on and my dim will be brighter than my bright thats how dirty it is so any suggestions would be nice.

You can disassemble the lights by taking off the front bumper and trim strip. The clips around the glass slide off (with some effort). Gently pry at the glass to break seal. You'll have as much access as you need. However, you'll probably break the glass like I did so I recommend you just replace them with the best junkyard units you can find. GL

if you remove the entire headlight from the housing, you can put it in the oven and heat up the glue for the seal. that will make it easier to come apart. repete process to remount the glass onto the seal and ductape it in place and tight. i learned this from an issue of sport compact mag., it was an colum on how to customize your headlights, though it was based on a sentra. i dont remember what temp to use but dont cook it just reheat it, maybe at like 100-150. try it and see, let us know how it goes if u try this.

wow. and i was just gonna suggest using dish soap and a toilet brush...

The glass wont bust under that much heat will it and how long do i do that for. Just till the glue melts.

no glass wont bust...how hot you think it is outside when its 110 degrees....means your car atleast 150 on parts been sitting under the sun...it be fine...I use to work with glass...but make sure light not in it...lol....dont want to here pop goes the wheisle

:iagree: But dont melt the seal just let it loosen up so u can remove(pry) the glass, maybe leave it in there for 10minutes, still must use causion it is glass after all. GL let us know how it goes

Ok well im fixing to go try it.

Put it in for 10 min checked it then put it back in for another 10 min took it out got a butter knife and it came right apart.

After i pulled the glass of i clead the light then i noticed that all of my shiny reflextant stuff was off can i buy some or just replace the hole headlight.

yea, people have said they've used some reflective gunmetal color spray paint to coat the housing and it looks really good when its all back together. you should be able to find a how-to out there somewhere. try using the search on this forum. i haven't done it, but i know others have and it turned out really well and i think its one of the best headlight mods you can do.

... i just dont feel right sticking my headlights in the oven and all that, so i got myself some black projectors and am in the process of installing them.. (they should be in tomorrow)

but yea, i'd suggest just refinishing your housing with some good dark paint, it'll look damn good. good luck, and make sure you post pics when you're done too!
