31 X 1050 R15 !!!!! Oops !!!!!

I put some new tires on my blazer they are 31 X 1050 R15 BF Goodrich All Terrain .. I think they are just a little to big. The place I got them from said they would fit just fine. Well they fit fine but they rub a little when I turn. They only rub on the inner back side of the wheel well.

So My question is this Now I need to put a 2-3 inch lift on it. I don't want a body lift. I would like a suspeion ( how do you spell that?) lift.

Could someone point me in the right direction to find a 2-3 inch lift? I would like to spend as little as possible.. Thanks

jcwhitney has 2" lifts for the 2wd blazer and plenty of lifts for the 4wd. I think it is jcwhitney.com

Take them back an tell them they don't fit like they said they would.

Why do you want a suspension lift? I would go body!

haha, i love how getting the wrong tire size motivates him to drop close to a grand on getting a lift put on. why not just go back and say they dont fit?

A good body kit can be installed for under $100 if you do it yourself. It could be done even cheaper, but the ghetto factor would be high. It's quite a project!

Had a 90 with 31's and with a slight torsion bar tweak and some shackles it fit those tires with ease. I went an inch and I wouldn't go more or you get risky with your axles. 2 inch body lifts are more subtle than 3"s and imho look a lot better.

Kind of off there. JCWhitnet has a 2" lift kit for less than $200 (if it is a 2wd). If he has the knowledge he could do the work himself for free. If not a shop would do it fairly cheap. Not that much involved. I have been looking at getting that kit myself.

I would't tweak the torsion bars enough to clear. It'll wear thost new tires out in no time.

Either take them back or do a lift.

From what I understand about the biggest tires that'll fit the stock first gen Blazers is a 30x9.5" tire.
I don't know about the second generation.

With the first gen's they also only recomend a 31x9.5" tire with a 2" lift. You can run yours with a 3" lift. (I'm talking about 4x4 Blazers)

If JCWhitnet doesn't have the lift that you want let me know. I've got 1 link saved for suspension lifts. 2" are about $600.00 through them though.

Now why would anybody want to lift a 2WD truck?
Driving over shopping karts is the only thing I can think of.

90% of most peoples off roading can be done in a lifted 2wd.

A lifted 2wd truck has better suspension travel than most 4x4's, is faster off the line, and uses less fuel.

Not to mention the look pretty sweet when done right.

There used to be off road races for modified 2wd trucks.

True. I have seen several 2wd out do 4wd on local offroad events. I am doing it just for the look and to get a little more clearance. I never actually take mine "offroad" but in south Ga there are enough dirt roads to keep me busy.

You kind of have to work with what you have. I just can not go out and drop $30,000 on a new 4wd truck to fix up. I was able to finance this 2wd Blazer and I am stuck with it for another 2.5 years. So why not have fun with it? Just because you do not like the idea of a listed 2wd, does not mean everyone does not like the idea.

I can't send them back now.. They have been mounted.. I called and they said no way...

Sound like I sould go with a body lift. From what all you you people have said.. But you can already see some of the frame under the truck. I don't want to see all of it.

Why is a suspenion lift so much many? I would think that if it was only 2" that I wouldn't need new shocks and things like that. I could make make my own if I had some prints or something. I'm very handy with a welder and torches, thats what I do for a living.

Does anyone here have a pic of a lift on the truck that have? Just so I could see what it would look like.

What do you people think about cutting some of the inner plastic out of the wheel well?

I put on the 30x9.5x15's because I had tried the 31's like you and they rubbed in the shop so I didn't bother and went with what I knew fit. Good luck in whatever you choose to do. IMO I would return the tires and get the ones that fit.

Thats a real bummer, i got some used 31x10.50 BFG's to fit mine. They have about 8/32's tread, i think stock they were 12 to 13/32's so that hair difference maybee what saved me. My buddy put 31's on his blazer new though and did a little modifying to the edge of the wheel wells and made em fit with plenty of room. But if your not comfortable, id take em back and get some nice 30x9.50's or something, those do fit great and still look better than the small 235/70/15's. good luck.

what you might have to do is buy a wheel with enough offset(back spacing) to clear the inner well and than lift the body and /or suspension to clear the outer fenders. Fabtech offers 3.5" spindle lifts but still only suggest the 9.50 tire so I wouldnt be sure if just a lift would cure your problem

You can always sell the tires and get the majority of their value - take the profit and get new tires that fit with only a little added money.

The suspension lift cost more because it comes with new upper A arms for the front end . I did body and suspension to make my 31x1050 fit . But I did it in reverse order . SAWZALL is always an option for the area that they rub . I still get rub on the anti sway bars when I turn to lock . Rob
