03 Silverado Stalling And Check Engine Flashing

My Wife Drove My 03 Z71 To Work And Said That The Engine Light Started Flashing And The Truck Started To Stall...... She Said It Did It More Than Once. My Fuel Pump Has A Wining Noise And Has Done It Ever Since I Had It ( About 4k Miles). The Gas Tank Was Almost On Empty But The Fuel Light Hadnt Came On Yet Until She Got To Work. I Got The Truck Put 5 Gals In It, And Its Doin Fine. The Truck Has 36,146 Miles On It And The Gm Place Doesnt Want To Waranty It Because Its 150 Miles Over. I Just Changed The Fuel Filter Last Week. Any Ideas????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????

Sounds to me like 5 gallons of gas fixed it since "it's doin fine". Good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For future reference, check engine light flashing = misfire = stop driving now. Some folks think running around on empty kills the fuel pump. Could be they're right.

If in the future it won't start and jumping it does no good, have someone smack the gas tank real good from underneath while you crank it. Works every time. Until the fuel pump dies for good.
