I had an issue with a 99 Suburban LT. When the fan climate control was on, the blower fan was not going. After leaning over to tap on it, I sat up to see smoke pouring out of the cowl. (On the outside below the windsheld)
Well now the fan will only turn on in the max position.
Only the High setting delivers voltage to the motor now. (something burned up)
I removed the blower motor, dried it out, and tried to track down some type or resistor assembly to test voltage at that point.
So, does anyone know where the resistor assembly is located???

I have a '99 LT OLD BODY STYLE. I refere to it as a '98. My '98 manual shows the resistor unit is on top of the plenum left of the glove box. Just to the left of that is a relay for the HIGH blower setting. The harness plug for the resistor looks like it goes from the top down. Hope this helps.............Steve

Thanks Stickman. I found that the resistor bank was NG. ($20)There is a undocumented diode in it that went opened during the freeze. My blower motor made it. I ordered the service manuals for future issues. ($64) Like the rest of us, no time to be without a working heated car. (esp in winter) Thanks.
