Hi,
I have an 86 honda accord and i live up in the moutains. When it gets to be about 36 degrees or lower, my car wont start. Last year had the same problem and bought a new battery, and i didnt seem to have as much of a problem. Now again this year, im getting the same results. The battery i have right now has 525 cca, but i havent been able to start it for the past 4 days or so.
Today i took my truck battery that has 800 cca and it started up, but isnt that too powerful for it or not? So im wondering, whats the max cca that a stock old honda can handle?

thanx,
david

It has nothing to how much the battery has to offer, its how much the starter needs and takes. You could put whatever battery in there and it wouldn't be too much for starting. Stepping up to a larger battery just ensures that it meets the minimum amperage available during the highest amperage demand.

so really theres no point in ever looking up what battery you need except to know the minimum specs?

thanx
