RWD is as good or better than FWD as logn as you get a little weight over the rear, and know your car/how it reacts/how to control it.
I feel safer in my camaro in the snow than my dad's hyundai...

summer tires + torque + cold + snow = oh hell no.... but if you have to drive in the winter make sure you have some really good tires and put some extra weight in that beast....

I dont know where u guys live but in michigan u dont drive a camaro in the winter. is it possible? yeah i drove my 91 rs all winter in my junior year. but it sucks bad, i would stop at red lights and have to sit through the green because i couldnt even get moving, and people would get pissed an flip me off.

The ground froze over the day i garaged mine and i was sliding all over the place going 20 and locking up the wheels when i tapped the brakes...so...no I'm not going to dare drive it in the winter(my first winter driving too pretty much)

I live up on a mountain and i needed to drive to school. The road doesn't have guard rails and it's like straight down on both sides and i started sliding down. I luckily I caught some dry pavement and was able to get it back under conrol but it was deffinatly a scary moment. Only if my lazy ass would have registered my jeep to park at school it wouldn't have been a problem.

It was 25 for the first sticker and 5 for each other car. Campus renta cops check the lots constantly and make plenty of money off people parking in fire lanes and parking in the faculty lot too. My freshman class had about 400 so we're pretty small too

Gosh dang you guys. I walked past my car this morning, and I still ride the bus because I have no liscence and I realised, it's really really cold. So, it occured to me I have no heater in my car. I get my liscence in a couple months so it's still gonna be cold. It's gonna be pretty rough, considering I'm too cheap to fix the heater. Sorry, random sharing.

Hell no I don't drive in the snow! I was forced to a few times and the first time, I got caught in a snow storm with no heater. So I couldn't see out and I would slide to stops and spin my tires trying to idle forward. Me+Camaro+Snow= A Big No No

Should try to get that heater fixed then because its only going to get colder, right now winter is only 'warming up' its February when it gets cold as crap.

This is true. My dad and I had to flush my system because my mechanic didn't do a good job. We flushed out rust and shit out of the heater core, now everything is toasty. Definately worth the investment at this time of year.

Now was profanity really necassary? Wouldn't a "heck no" or "no freaking way" still have gotten the point across?
:lol2:
I have driven many V6 Camaros, Firebirds and a LS1 Formula in the winter. Thankfully I don't anymore as I now have a 2001 Dodge Stratus SE for a daily driver :iceslolan
But I have to say that it's not as big of a deal as many people make it out to be. Yes you get passed up by SUV's and Escorts but if you drive responsibly and accelerate easy then all will be fine. All you need are good all weather tires. The 245-55-16 BFG KDWS worked well for me in Chicago winters.
But 300+ rwhp + RWD + snow/ice are not a winning combo. It's doable but you have to be very careful or you can end up in a tree, ditch or another car. But believe it or not this is where an A4 with a high stall torque converter helps. The extra "loosness" of the converter actually helps to keep traction while under easy acceleration. More converter slip means less power hitting the tires and thus less spinning on snow or ice.Traction control being on helps too.

Let me guess non of you guys that are complaining about your Camaro’s performance in snow/ice are running snow tires, am I right?
Hi-performance summer tires suck in snow, that’s why there called summer tires. I mean come on people it’s like putting the cheapest all-season tire you can find on your car and then complaining about the way it handles on dry pavement.
Right now I have to drive my camaro this winter. Where it snows, does anyone else drive their camaro in the winter too. Just wanted to see if anyone else drives it in the winter.
Get some Bridgestone Blizzaks: link #1 (http://www.tirerack.com/winter/bridgestone/bridgestone.jsp) link #2 (http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=3888&page_number=1) And if your car doesn’t have an LSD get one installed and you shouldn’t have any problem driving in snow. It’s also a good idea to take your car to an open snow covered parking lot and push it till it slides to get use to when and how it slides.
I don’t own a Camaro, but I do own a RWD car and I know that as long as you have snow tires some type of LSD/locker snow is no big deal.

Yeah thats the bad thing, and if you wash it like the day that its all melted away and dried up all the damn salt is still on the ground, along with whatever else they decided to through down like sand.

Yeah, the salt and sand is why not. I drove mine in the snow for two seasons. Result? Salt permeated into the floorboard, front wheel wells, battery compartment, etc... Do you want to keep this vehicle for many years? I did buy a beater '82 Z28 4spd and drove it three more years. You will never get away with it, even if you garage it. The whole underside will need to be cleaned after every snow venture, and with what? Water?
You may say you can't afford 2 cars, but your Camaro will rot. Fixed mine and moved south! Junked the rotting '82.

last winter was my first with the camaro. i did not even attempt to drive it in the snow. it sat most of the winter. one day i parked it on the street in front of my house then it snowed 4 inches overnight. i had to have 5 people push the car into the driveway (summer performance tires + ice + 5speed = no go) before the plow blasted it with salt.
