hey, just wondering what would be faster. nos or a greddy turbo kit on my 97 civic ex. sohc vtec. the nos prolly run me around 700 for a basic wet kit from nitrous express, and the turbo kit from greddy prolly run about 1500( no intercooler or bov). which do you guys think would be faster, and anybody know any 1/4 mile times on basically stock with the exception of those parts on the car. the nitrous would prolly be around 50-60 shot, just to be safe. what do you guys prefer? thanks

I'm pretty sure you're gonna want the turbo kit. Nitrous is only a temporary and unstable solution to your speed problems. A turbo on the other hand is always there, and if tuned properly is a much more stable and more fun solution (of course you're gonna need to get more parts than just what comes with the kit you want if you want good results from your turbo)

i definately second that....you should get the turbocharger.....you said you were not going to intercool it so i'm guessing you're just gonna run it at about 6-7 psi??......i think that'll give you about 60-80 hp increase.....that's pretty damn good......don't forget you have to keep refilling nitrous.... also..later on, you can intercool it....put some low comp. pistons....then turn the boost up.....then you'll be pretty cool....:D

yeah, thats what i was thinking about doing, low compression pistons, rods, intercooler, blow off valve, etc. but i didn't know if i want to invest so much in the sohc, seeing how everybody says i need dohc. my plan was to shoot nos until the motor blows then get a b18b and turbo that since it is already low compression and can pick one up for relatively cheap.

If you can afford nos to blow the motor, then buy a new motor with a turbo, why not get the new motor and turbo right now, put some money into the motor so you can turn up the boost???

if i were you, i would take the B20Z engine. it's basically the same as the B18B, but honda bored it out to 2.0L. bigger engine= more potential. the engine itself can be found for $800. just bolt it up to any B-series(except B20) transmission and you'll be fine.

hahaha.....exactly.....what's the point of shooting nitrous if you want to eventually do a swap....i saw you save up a little extra and drop in the dohc....unless you want to KEEP the sohc.....i didn't like sohc at first either, but when i see car's like signal auto's "vtec-less" crx and bizi ezerioha's 1.5 liter running 10 sec....pretty damn cool...

heres what i was thinking. shoot nos until the motor blows up, and by the time the motor blows up i've have saved up enough money to buy the new motor.
