Squadron putty question

I tried searching but I couldn't find a good answer.

What is the difference between squadron Green and White putty?

I think the white is a little finer.

I've found the white to be coarser, personally I prefer the green.

that's something i've noticed too.
there's no differentiation on the boixes that hold the stuff.

i think i have green or red to choose from.

I found the white putty to be harder and more chalk-like (more crumbly and less flexible) than the green. I believe they both shrink alot. After a month or so, I can see the green putty has shrunk from the original shape.

Yeah, the green shrinks a lot, the white does some, never knew about the red. I prefer Evercoat automotive filler mixed with Bondo brand hardener.

I've used Squadron White Putty for years now and I agree that it will break or chip and also shrink but I rarely had any of that problem... From the many cars that I've built, most of the time the putty stays and has no shrinking problem at all. I've never tried the red and green ones though.

Yeah, white definately shrinks a lot. I now use automotive filler for all but the smallest of jobs. The Squadron putty is fine if applied very thin like a glazing filler on autobody repair. It seems best suited to filling small imperfections.

i have to say that i've enver really looked at the tube for anything other than the "squadron" name.
the red one i was talking about IS the white putty.

slightly off topic but when i have a biggish spot that needs filling but also needs to be less brittle or somethin similar, i mix up a little batch of 'melted' plastic by disolving shavings of sprue into some plastic weld.
