you don't HAVE to if you drive it normally and never really get on the gas and boost, but if you boost any higher amount at all, i'd run premium. it lowers the flash point so you won't knock.

Honestly how much do you stand to save by using regular? You risk damaging the engine for a couple cents per gallon.

It's spelled PREMIUM.

You look at it every time you fill up. Shouldn't have a problem spelling it.

to pay for premium is like $2 more on fill up, if you didnt run it empty (which you shouldnt ever come close to with a boosted engine) and also depends on where you live.

but then too you never want to run a diesel engine near empty. damn things fuel systems are like brake systems.

I agree 100% Once I was trying to hold out on getting gas until I got over the bridge (where its like 20 cents cheaper, I was in my cavalier)...well...i never made over that bridge.

Man was I pissed, It just cut-off going up the bridge (no shoulder lanes either). Anyways, for next 2-3 weeks, car ran like absolute shit and the gas level readings where totaly off (needle would spas out).

Thats crazy, I have run my Cavy out of gas 3 times, and each time after I got some gas in it, it fired right up and ran good. Why is it not good to run the gas down on a boosted car?

You will run lean if you boost when REALLY low on gas before you run out completely

yeah i ran my saturn empty once and then i had fuel pump issues. gms typically have fuel pump/module issues. the module practically always acts weird, even new, but if you keep at least like 2.5 gallons in a tank you should be fine which takes getting use to when its at that level. i dont travel any lower then that in my car from now on.
