What in the heck does the little red button on my dash marked B do.

That's the brake warning light. It senses excessive pedal travel and faults in the master cylinder, via the brake light switches on the master cylinder.

You can check to see if it works by pushing the little red button. If it lights up, consider yourself lucky, since most of them don't anymore. Pushing the button shows that the warning system is working properly.

If it does work, and it comes on when the brakes are applied, then there is a problem with the brake system. Don't worry TOO much if it does come on. Models equipped with the light have dual stage brakes, one stage for the front brakes, and another for the rear. So even if one side fails, you'll still have brakes, but just reduced stopping power.

Repair them as soon as possible if this happens.
