Rear Right Engine Mount Bracket

Was working under the car today and noticed that the bracket connecting the rear right engine mount bushing to the block was torn. It is basically ripped up the side of the bracket and follows along the side of the bolt where it connects to the engine block. Does anyone know what the cause of this might have been? I would have thought the bushing would have given out first. As well where can I find a new bracket? I don't want to head to the junkyards and crawl around in the snow to get one if I don't have to.

Also what will happen if this completely breaks off? Will the engine still stay where it is supposed to? At least for a short time until I get a new bracket?

Engine shifting is a bad thing for front wheel drive cars. In some cases, it can throw off your wheel alignment. If your engine is a 2.2, I'd say vibrations caused it, because those little engines vibrate horribly. Any autoparts store will have a new mount. Tell me what year model your car is and I'll get you an estimated cost of one.

and auto or manual tranny will effect it differently too.. on how well u take care of it... i know i need all new tranny and motor mounts..
