i know this sounds dumb, but i never messed around with it for fear of hurting my baby, but the parking break only locks up the front wheels?

I'm afraid to i dont want to mess with it. I know its a big ass engine and has good torque. I only do it when there is really slick concrete and i dont floor it.

its really simple, u hit the brake's not to hard but a lil, than floor the gas, the cars gonna pick up a lil than let off the brake untill the tires break loose and hold it, all ur doing it overpowering the rear brakes

Emergency brake power-braking only applies to front wheel drives. If you apply just the right amount of brakes, you can get both tires going...Too much brake and only one tire will spin. It takes practice, and a lot of rear brakepads!! Besides, brake-torquing is bad on your engine, transmission, differential, pads and rotors....

What practice, I smoke my tires from the green light at an intersection if I plunge the pedal down and the payvment has too much oil on it, it's slick, the tires spin till they burn off the slick, they catch and you go, look back and you see a nice trail of smoke blowin down the road. Nothing to it.

Same thing done with Moorcycle burnouts, lock the front brakes, slick the pavementdown, do a real nice burnout. You don't do any damage, just wear the tires down and burnup ashfalt.

Burnouts can do damage. You can overheat the engine or transmission, slip and burn low-reverse clutches, smoke the torque converter, damage spider gears, etc... but DAMN is it fun!!! Gotta watch for local police here....Seems they gotta hard-on for people who like to smoke 'em off... Go figure.

If you like doing burn outs install a line lock. It keeps the front brakes applied, but the rear are free to spin.

It's also useful when parking on really steep hill where you want keep all tires from spinning. (don't trust them as a true e-brake though)

Very true Blazee.

1/4 mile racers get their tires a little wet to help them do burn outs.

They have to do burn outs to get their tires hot enough to stick properly. And if the race gets delayed they get pissed if they can't do a second burn out. This is the only reason why they do them before the race.

Plus the burn out area is usually pretty smooth concrete and their drive train is usually beefed up to handle it.

no i agree, doing burn outs beats the hell out of the whole drive train, esp if ur only spinning one tire, those spider gears in the diff are going to hell and back. Thats when u gotta ask your self, is it worth it for a nice smokey burnout

How about when you get the dredded axle hop. Back in high school my buddy did a power brake that turned into axle hop..... long story short the dash partly fell down.

Wheel hop has got to be te hardest thing on a vehicle.
Every time that it starts to grip again is stressing the frame, rear end drive shaft transmission, engine, and the motor mounts which is stressing the frame on the front as well.

Again most 1/4 mile cars are designed so they don't really get wheel hop.
spend a pretty penny building these cars to handle all this stress, and a lot more time working out the bugs.
Not to mention all the work and money that they put in between races on the cars.
